Rainbow Flag

We are delighted to have begun our journey to achieve the Rainbow Flag in school.

The award is to share and celebrate our positive work on inclusion and visibility of LGBT+ people, throughout the curriculum and daily practice of the school.

At Simonside Primary School we teach the children to be themselves and encourage acceptance. Further information can be found in the documents in the document links below.

Promoting British Values

What are British Values?

There are certain values that have been attributed to being British, these fall into 4 broad areas.  At Simonside we are committed to these values and reinforce them in our practice within school.

• democracy
• the rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

To support the understanding of British Values we hold weekly assemblies in both Key Stages using Picture News.  Discussions are held around an image and the children are exposed to understanding the Human Rights and responsibilities through this.

Daily School Practice.

As well as discrete lessons and assemblies to promote British Values, they are part of the ethos of the school and organically occur throughout the school day and within the school environment.
